For video, the H.264 standard offers significant improvements. To complement this streamlined video technology, we’ve developed Dolby^® Digital Plus. Together, these technologies allow broadcasters and operators to offer more HD channels with surround sound on existing services, and enable new digital entertainment delivery methods such as IPTV, where bandwidth is at a premium.
